I'm Tim Scott, born and raised in Austin, TX and I am an independent Austin mural artist with over 20 years of experience creating large scale murals and original artwork. Painting walls & canvases, drawing & filling sketchbooks, and creating art has always been part of how I engage with life and express myself.
The mural work I take on today, whether for a business, a public space, or a private home, comes from the same place. Inspiration comes from my surroundings, from conversations, from whatever is going on around me.
When I take on a project, the priority is the artwork. Every mural is designed from scratch and built for the space, and I see it through from the first rough sketches to the final details.
I work in spray paint, acrylic, airbrush, and mixed media, on everything from a small interior feature wall to an exterior mural that covers a whole building. The scale and the subject change from job to job, but I want every piece to feel like its own thing.
Many of these murals and paintings have also been translated into original art t-shirts and artist designed merchandise that you can wear and collect.

Austin is a city that thrives on creativity, and the spaces we gather in, work in, and live should reflect that.
Over the years, I've created custom murals throughout Austin and Central Texas for restaurants, musicians, music venues, retail spaces, offices, hospitality groups, public installations, and private residences. Every project is different, but I always want the mural to look like it belongs there and to hold the viewer's attention.
That might be a bold exterior wall that turns into a neighborhood landmark, or a quieter interior piece that sets the mood of a room and draws people toward it.
I'm comfortable with the logistics too: branding, visibility, weather, coordinating with contractors. Big walls take planning. Even so, I don't want the finished piece to feel overproduced, and it has to still look right years after it's painted.

Painting inside someone's home is different from painting a commercial building, but the mindset is similar. I think about how the mural will live in that space every day. How it works with the architecture and the room.
A hand-painted mural can anchor a living space or transform an outdoor area. In a commercial setting, it gives a building character and a sense of place.
Every project starts with listening, then sketching, then painting artwork built for the space.
When it's done right, I want it to feel built in, like it was always part of the room rather than something added on top.
