If you’re looking for an Austin mural artist who paints vivid, original work by hand, not using stock graphics or recycled concepts, let’s discuss your project and see what creative vision we come up with.
I’m Tim Scott, an independent Austin mural artist with over 20 years of experience creating large-scale murals and original artwork. Long before doing commissions and client projects, I have always been someone who needed to paint and create art because it is an integral part of who I am. Drawing, experimenting, filling sketchbooks, painting walls has always been part of how I move through the world and engage with life.
The mural work I do today, whether for a business, a public space, or a private home, stems from the same roots. I draw inspiration from my surroundings in Central Texas, from imagination, memory, environment, nature, conversations with friends and family, and what is happening in the world. What eventually becomes a finished mural usually starts as a sketch or idea that develops over time.
When I take on a project as an Austin mural artist, I approach it as an artist first. Every mural is designed from scratch and built specifically for the space it lives in.
No stock imagery. No reused concepts. Just real, hand-painted work.
I work in spray paint, acrylic, airbrush, and mixed media, creating everything from intimate interior feature walls to expansive exterior murals that stretch across entire buildings. The scale may shift, but the intention remains the same: to create artwork that feels alive, rooted, and original.
Austin thrives on creativity, and the spaces we gather in, work in, and live in should reflect that.
Over the years, I’ve created custom murals throughout Austin and Central Texas for restaurants, musicians, music venues, retail spaces, offices, hospitality groups, public installations, and private residences. Each project is different, but the goal is always the same. The mural should feel like it belongs there and engages the viewer.
Sometimes that means a bold exterior mural that becomes part of the neighborhood. Sometimes it means an interior piece that enhances the atmosphere of a room. Sometimes it becomes a focal point that pulls people in naturally.
As an Austin mural artist, I understand branding, visibility, durability, and coordination with contractors or designers. Large-scale work requires planning and structure. But I never want the final result to feel overproduced or detached from its creative roots.
The artwork has to hold up creatively long after the initial excitement fades.
Painting inside someone’s home is different from painting a commercial building, but the mindset is similar. I think about how the mural will live in that space every day. How light moves across it. How it interacts with architecture. How it shapes the energy of the environment.
A hand-painted mural can anchor a living space, elevate architectural features, add atmosphere, or transform an outdoor area. In a commercial setting, it can strengthen identity, create a sense of place, and turn a building into something memorable.
In every case, the work begins the same way, with listening, sketching, and translating a client’s vision into original artwork that belongs to the space.
As an Austin mural artist, my role is not just to decorate a wall, but to create original art that becomes part of the structure itself.
I’m based in Austin and available for mural projects throughout Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Dripping Springs, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Westlake, San Marcos, Buda, Kyle, Bastrop, and San Antonio.
If you’re looking for an Austin mural artist who creates hand-painted murals rooted in personal passion and artistic integrity, I’d be glad to hear about your project.
Let’s create something that stands apart and transforms the space.
